A collection of heritage buildings in Cartwright, in the Municipality of Cartwright-Roblin, includes a shoe repair shop with authentic equipment, the Badger Creek Museum containing local area artifacts, the Mount Prospect School building (municipally-designated in 1992) that displays items found in an early pioneer school, a Manitoba Telephone System building (municipally-designated in 1995) containing artifacts and displays relating to early telephone service, and a post office relocated to the museum from Mather. Also on the park grounds is a monument commemorating author Robert James Campbell Stead.
A private telephone system was installed at Cartwright as early as 1903, by the Bell Telephone Company. It was purchased in 1906 by the Manitoba Telephone System. The building was destroyed by fire in September 1929 but a new building, designed by Winnipeg architect Alexander D. Melville, was completed by December 1929.
