The Clay Banks are part of the Municipality of Cartwright-Roblin, north of the village of Cartwright, is believed to be where, from about 2,000 to 1,200 years ago, Aboriginal people of the Besant culture stampeded bison over the cliffs, later carving the carcasses for use as food, tools, shelter, and clothing.
